Bridge over the Besós river on the Trinidad-Mongat motorway (Barcelona)

Abstract

The main features of the bridge over the Besós river on the Trinidad-Mongat motorway in Barcelona and its construction is described. The bridge has three main spans of 35 + 68 +35 m which are over the river and some approach spans over the road on the riversides. It is a prestressed concrete continuous deck with variable depth. The transverse section is a multicell box girder which varies from a triangular to a trapezoidal shape. The deck is embeded in the piers with a special shape, in order to reduce their transverse dimensions owing to the great width of the deck: 35 m.
