Semiurban bridges
Abstract
This article describes two bridges designed by PROES, S.A., in which the conditions determined by the semiurban surroundings, where they are situated, were decisive in the design. The Bridge over the CN-II, in Alcalá de Henares, has a very important slenderness (1/44) in its central span. The abutment face, made of reddish brick, was carefully designed. The Bridge over the Presa de Alende is a small cable-stayed bridge, whose most characteristic element, from the point of view of the shape is the tower, which symbolically represents the village gate.
