Abstract


The construction of the arch of the Almonte viaduct supposed the greatest challenge, technically speaking, of the construction of the High Speed viaduct located over the mouth of the Almonte river into the Alcantara reservoir in Cáceres, Extremadura. The arch was constructed following the advanced cantilever method with a temporary stay system, by means of travelers capable of adapting to the changing shapes of the cross section of the arch along its length.
