Structurals principles in the seismic design of concrete bridges

Abstract

Unlike buildings structures, bridges, in general, are not highly redundant systems and for this reasons they need a special and careful treatment in the design and detailing of each of element. This work presents a summary of the basic project and conceptual design of bridges in seismic regions, based on the concept of design by capacity.
